Every day, thousands of consumers interact with products on the Mallzee app, providing us with enormous amounts of authentic product sentiment data.
Algorithms based on these interactions give a performance grade to a product.
Grade 10 products are excellent products that we predict will sell well - they fall within the top 10% of products in a category.
Grade 1 products are products where consumers are engaging negatively and are less likely to purchase.When examining the whole category on Mallzee - they fall within the bottom 10% of products.
From our analysis, products that fall in the top 3 grades (10, 9, 8) take three times longer to be discounted than the products in the bottom three grades (3, 2, 1).
If there's no grade on a product, we need a little more data to give our insights. If the product is still in stock, then check back later as we're always collecting data.
All our data comes from the Mallzee app, a free fashion app featuring over 180 different brands.
Consumers use the app to swipe and engage with products; the data generated is anonymised and aggregated before being used to show product preference.
We also have historical data on pricing information and discounting.
This data is used by merchandisers, buyers, marketers, to name but a few. It can also be used by journalists and students. It can help anyone who works in retail to inform their decision making helping them make better product decisions.
Products on the Product Intelligence dashboard have been in the Mallzee app sometime since October 2018.
The data featured on the platform is either current, a snapshot of how the product or brand is performing in the market or covers historical performance.
